Course Description: Principles of Lighting Thea 133 -In this course you will be provided the opportunity to learn all facets of Stage Lighting. From how it works, to why it works, to why we use them the way we do, and what to do when it all goes wrong.

Course Learning Objectives: In this course the student will learn to identify and properly use diverse lighting equipment. Students will learn to work cooperatively with classmates on projects as part of a team. Students will learn design concepts, and how to develop a design.
Student Learning Objectives: Students will be able to read and interpret course information as it applies to stage lighting. Students will demonstrate an understanding of a stage lighting plot by the hanging and focusing of lighting fixtures. Students will be able to interpret scripts for technical components, including color, time of day, etc.; through written script analysis. Students will demonstrate an ability to evaluate a light plot to determine and select specified fixtures with accurate parameters. Students we be able to examine, evaluate, and correct problems for non‐ responsive lighting fixtures. Students will gain an appreciation of lighting as an artistic element. Students will develop both critical and aesthetic problem solving skills relating to theatrical lighting
