Math 219 Statistics and Probability
Course Description: Beginning course in statistics, includes descriptive statistics, graphical displays of data, probability, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, regression, contingency tables, ANOVA, and nonparametric statistics. Includes use of technology.
Textbook Information:
- Text: Statistics, Informed Decisions Using Data (5th Edition), by Michael Sullivan, III.
- MyStatLab to complete media and homework assignments online and access additional practice/review problems. http://MyStatLab.com. MyStatLab course ID: nguyen95788
- A scientific calculator should be sufficient for this class. TI-36X Pro is recommended. Best to have a calculator that shows any expression with parentheses.
Student Learning Objectives:
- By the end of the semester students will correctly interpret a graphical display of data.
- By the end of the semester students will take a statistical claim about a data set, perform an appropriate procedure, and write a conclusion that addresses that claim.
