Cooperative Work Experience Syllabus
Course Description:
This course provides opportunity for students to earn college credit for supervised paid or unpaid experience in a student's major, at the current worksite, including new or expanded responsibilities. One credit may be earned for each 75 hours of paid work or 60 hours of unpaid work. Students may earn up to 2 units of credit during one term. Your job must relate to your major.
This course may be taken 4 times for a maximum of 16 units cooperative work experience credit. This course is a Pass/No Pass course only.
Textbook Information: There is no textbook required for this course.
Student Learning Objectives:
- Communication Skills: Collaboration with supervisor to generate 3 performance objectives which represent new or expanded job responsibilities.
- Time Management Skills: Develop 3 performance objectives that are specific, measurable, and achievable during the 8-week session.
- Critical Thinking Skills: Analyze the short-term goals and establish which will benefit the learning process.
- Reasoning Skills: Identify new tasks within the scope of the job and maintain contact hours for each unit of work experience during the 8-week session.
- Students will learn new or expanded career skills trough practical experience in the work environment.
