Textbook Information: There is no required textbook to purchase for this class. All readings will be available online in Canvas. You can save each Lesson if you wish to keep the information after the course closes.

Course Logistics:

It is important for faculty and the college to be in-synchronous with the Online Education Initiative (OEI).  This course uses the Creative Commons licensed materials of OESP, OEI's online teaching standards, and the OEI Course Rubric for online course evaluation to teach online.  You will also see an infusion of SAC supported tools and policies throughout the course.

Part One:

6-week schedule: In order to be as flexible as possible, the first six weeks are somewhat self-paced with instructor facilitation and feedback.

Milestone Due Dates: Week 3, Week 6.  Due dates for these weeks are needed for facilitator scoring of material and to assure that you are on-pace to complete this course!

Part Two:

The last four weeks are run with all participants in the course, utilizing due dates to facilitate timely responses from your colleagues and facilitator.  It will be important for you to adhere to due dates for course completion.

Completion: To complete the SAC OTC-OESP faculty must complete all assessments (assignments, quizzes, discussion boards) and complete their SAC OTC-OESP final course submission with a minimum socre of "aligned" in all categories.

Though best to complete in one cohort session, self-paced modules can be picked up again and completed during another semester with facilitation.

Time Commitment:

This course is designed to take approximately 12 hours during each of the 10 weeks, for a total of 120 hours, to achieve the Online Teaching Certification and 2.5 CEUs from RSCCD; however, your time commitment will vary based upon your own level of experience with web technologies and online learning.
Note: The final four weeks are run with due dates to simulate an actual online course and for colleague sharing and feedback.  Please plan your schedule accordingly.

Meet Your Facilitator:  Annie Knight, MLIS
