Bio 211: Cellular and Molecular Biology

Course Syllabus

Meet Your Instructor:

I received my BS in Biology from CSUF with a minor in biotechnology and another minor in Chemistry.  After undergrad, I worked at Allergan and Ionis Pharmaceuticals.  I left the biotech industry and went to UCR for graduate school in the department of Genetics, Genomics, and Bioinformatics.  There I worked in a plant lab studying proteins involved in cell signalling during flooding.

I started teaching at SAC in 2014.  Here I teach Bio 109: Fundamentals of Biology, Bio 190: Intro to Biotechnology, Bio 190L: Intro to Biotechnology Lab, Bio 191: Biotech A: Basic Skills, Bio 192: Biotech B: Proteins, Bio 211: Cell and Molecular Biology, and Bio 214: Plant Diversity and Evolution.

Course Description:

An investigation into the molecular and cellular basis of life, including the evolution of cells, cell structure and function, energy and information flow, cellular reproduction, genetics, and the molecular basis of inheritance.
