Course Description:

Art 195 is a Foundation-Level course that covers the fundamental tools

used by visual storytellers across the varied applications of Digital

Media. This project-driven course focuses on training in industry

standard software: primarily the Adobe Creative Cloud programs

Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Premier Pro and their use in

various areas of visual media. Art 195 is a gateway course for most

Digital Arts and 3D Animation programs at SAC.

Structurally, the course is broken up into 4 sections:

• Graphic Design essentials and Vector Graphics (Illustrator)

• Pixel Graphics and Photomanipulation (Photoshop)

• Video Editing and Motion Graphics (Premiere Pro)

• Layout for Print Design and Web Media (InDesign)

Each section of the course will have 2-3 projects as well as smaller

assignments based off daily demos and lectures covering new tools

and concepts relative to said projects. A surprise exam may happen

occasionally, these are a rare opportunity to earn extra credit.
