Course Information:
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES—Student Learning Outcomes. These will be the goals we shall pursue together this semester to allow you a better understanding of the Broadcast Journalism profession and to prepare you for a career in it or a related media field:
Students will develop a working, hands-on knowledge of all aspects of TV news production including:
- Broadcast News Writing Style
- Development of interesting and informative news, sports, and feature story leads.
- Develop effective news interviews.
- Effective field reporting/field production techniques.
- Story editing.
- An understanding of the techniques and role of the anchorperson.
- Mastering in-studio production skills including learning such positions as news producer, director, technical director, audio engineer, video operator, floor manager, cameraperson, Teleprompter operator, and graphics designers.
- Ethical and legal preparation for handling the world of professional broadcast news.
