Professor Mark McCallick, CPA.CGMA graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

Professor McCallick's career began at Ernst & Young, LLP (Newport Beach) where he worked in the audit department for four years. After leaving Ernst & Young, he worked for NBC Television in various financial positions ending as Manager of Advertising Finance – West Coast, before leaving to start his own CPA firm in 1987. After ten years running his own practice he merged his practice into a national CPA firm located in Orange County. In 2004 he started a consulting practice and ran this firm until he accepted a full time teaching position at Santa Ana College in 2014.

Professor McCallick is a Certified Public Accountant and has been teaching financial and managerial accounting, QuickBooks and Entrepreneurial Finance since 2012. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs where he holds a designation as a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). He is also a member of the California Society of CPA's and is a certified Quickbooks Pro advisor.

Course Description:

The course includes the preparation of accounting records for a business using the QuickBooks Desktop 2018 software in the Windows environment.

There are a few options on purchasing the text for this course:

  • OPTION #1 - This book can be purchased in the Santa Ana College Bookstore for approximately $90. This is the best option for convenience. The bookstore should be fully stocked with these texts. The textbook has instructions on downloading your free 5-month trial version of QuickBooks 2018 Accountants DESKTOP (see plastic pouch on back inside cover of text). If bookstore staff tell you they are out, please ask to speak to Raul Quinones – Bookstore manager.

 

  • OPTION #2 - You can also purchase from Questiva – Click here --> Questiva Consultants. The cost is approximately $90, plus shipping and Be sure to factor in these costs, and the time element, if you are thinking of purchasing directly from Questiva. It is cheaper to buy at SAC bookstore.

 

  • OPTION #3 – Purchase a used QuickBooks 2018 Fundamentals textbook (must be 2018) if you can find one. If you do this, you will need to go to the Intuit Education website to register and download the FREE Quickbooks 2018 desktop 5-month trial software.  Click here -->Inuit Education .  No matter what option you use above to obtain your textbook, please make sure to read the Preface of the textbook as it contains important and useful information for students.

 

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES FOR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING:

Students will be able to use QuickBooks accounting software by analyzing and inputting accounting transactions that will result in relevant accounting reports.
