Course Description: This course provides practical knowledge, ecological terms and concepts, for planning, design, and construction of residential and light commercial buildings including materials, equipment, construction/assembly methods, cost estimation methods, and building codes/standards.
Textbook Information: Architectural Drafting and Design, 5th Ed. by Alan Jefferis & David A. Madsen
Additional Course Information: ENGR 142 is recommended prior to ENGR 201.
Course Learning Objectives: This "cap" class integrates and reinforces the knowledge and skills gained in all other AEC Drafting and Design Option II program courses. Upon completion, students will have a foundation of AEC knowledge and skills for employment.
Student Learning Objectives: Demonstrate understanding of: roles and responsibilities of AEC professionals for construction projects; using references such as building codes & ADA; types of project feasibility studies; types of projects, phases, and necessary information to convey; computer modeling to create, analyse, do material take-offs; construction specifications.
