Meet Your Instructor: Professor Chantal Lamourelle, M.S. 

Course Description:  This course examines the major physical, psycho social, and cognitive/language developmental milestones for children, from conception through adolescence. Using developmental theories & research methodologies, course emphasis will be on typical and atypical development, maturation processes & environmental factors.  Students will also observe children, evaluate individual differences and analyze characteristics of development at various stages.

The course is divided into five (5) major sections:

 

  • Introduction to Development
  • Conception to Toddlers (birth to 2 years old)
  • Preschoolers (2 to 7 years old)
  • Middle Childhood (7 to 11 years old)
  • Adolescence (11 to 17 years old)
