Welcome to our class!
My name is Stacy Simmerman, and I will be your instructor for the course. I have been teaching English at Santa College for about 13 years, and it is truly my dream job. I love working with students, helping them to improve their communication skills, and of course, reading and discussing literature (I also love chocolate and English Bulldogs). I look forward to working with you this semester. Please feel free to email me or stop by my office anytime (D-406). I am here to help!
Course Description: Welcome to English 101. This is an intensive writing course in which you will practice and develop your critical thinking, reading, and writing skills. The Little Seagull 3e covers major points of composition, the research process, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. We will also devote a large portion of our course to the novel The Book of Unknown Americans. Other course materials may range from photographs and advertisements to poetry and film.
