Course Description:
ASL 114 provides specialized instruction to further develop skills in the areas of fingerspelling, numbers, classifiers, and non-manual signals. Both receptive and expressive techniques will be emphasized.

Student Learning Objectives:
- Identify complex fingerspelled words at normal conversational speed through configuration, content, and context.
- Demonstrate fluid expressive fingerspelling including prefixes, suffixes, abbreviations, loan signs, double letters.
- Accurately recognize numbers embedded in a variety of conversational topics.
- Construct numbers clearly and appropriately based on context.
- Analyze the semantic intent of a classifier in context and interpret its meaning.
- Incorporate classifiers in standard conversation and stories.
- Analyze semantics, pragmatics, and registers of ASL based on mouth morphemes, facial expressions, body positioning, and other non-manual signals.
- Effectively demonstrate various non-manual signals within conversations and stories.
- Discuss various aspects of ASL grammar and be able to apply them in casual conversation.
