Students who do not submit their weekly assignment including chapter quiz by the due date will be marked “absent” and may be dropped from the class for “Excessive Absence”. Excessive

Absence is two weeks of non-participation by the student (just logging into Canvas does

NOT count as attendance). Student are responsible to drop a class using

WebAdvisor. If a student does not drop by the withdrawal date, then a letter grade will be given based on performance. Last date to withdrawal with a “W” grade is listed on WebAdvisor. After that date, you must receive a grade.

I will respond to emails within one business day Monday - Thursday based on the SAC instructional calendar. Use the Instructor Contact morgan_adam@sac.edu for communication.

Online Learning Preparation & Expectations

This course is geared for students who are self-directed, able to manage their time, and have basic computer skills. It is mandatory to be able to use the Internet and type all assignments. The course introduction in Canvas has tutorials that will help you learn how to use Canvas.

This is a college level course. Many students expect that an online or hybrid course will be easier or require less time. This is not true. This online class will take just as much time as a traditional classroom course. College credits are based on the Carnegie Unit, the structure of the US Education system, for a system of “unit”. One semester unit represents one lecture hour of required classroom time and two hours of student preparation time. Thus, this 1.5-unit course requires 1.5 lecture hours and 3 hours of student preparation (i.e., reading, projects, quizzes) for approximately 4.5 hours total per week x 2 for an 8-week session.
