Course Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Describe the components of a healthy diet.
- Identify the major functions and food sources of each macronutrient
(carbohydrate, protein, lipids, water) and micronutrient (vitamins and minerals).
- Explain the role of nutrients in maintaining health and preventing chronic disease.
- Summarize the nutrients of concern during human growth and development,
and throughout the aging process.
- Assess the quality of nutrition information presented in the media.
Student Learning Objectives:
- Report and analyze their current intake and plan appropriate dietary changes to correct the identified nutritional deficiencies and excesses to comply with nutritional standards for general good health.
- Students will critically evaluate and demonstrate knowledge of nutritional science to identify reliable nutrition information.
