Course Description:
Theory, operation, diagnosis, and service of the steering and suspension systems used on modern vehicles. Wheel alignment procedures are highlighted. Hands-on practice is emphasized. Students must furnish approved safety glasses. This course assists the student in preparation for the A4 (Suspension and Steering) ASE certification exam. Recommended Preparation: Auto 002 or Auto 006.

Student Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
1. Discuss the basic steering angles used in automotive alignment.
2. Explain the operation of steering and suspension systems including alignment angles.
3. Identify steering and suspension components commonly found on vehicles.
4. Compare the various styles of commonly used steering gear units.
5. Demonstrate the use of service information during steering maintenance procedures.
6. List required steps in adjusting the alignment on an all-wheel drive vehicle.
7. Analyze symptoms to determine vehicle alignment strategy.
8. Demonstrate safe and correct completion of steering and suspension tasks as specified by ASE/NATEF
