Lance R. Lockwood

Chair & Professor of Communication Studies

Argumentation & Debate, Gender Communication, and Public Speaking

Lance Lockwood, Chair and Professor of Communication Studies, Corporate Consultant, Author and Activist driving integration of the LGBTQ culture in academic, professional and societal arenas.

Professor Lockwood has been a faculty member of the Rancho Santiago Community College District since 2000.  He started his part time instructor career at Santiago Canyon College and then transferred to Santa Ana College in 2001.  He has previously taught Communication Studies at Goldenwest Community College and Chapman University until 2005 when he was hired as a full-time faculty member at Santa Ana College. 

Professor Lockwood has been instructing students and business professionals in the art of Oralistic Persuasion for more than 18 years.  Mr. Lockwood’s techniques are firmly rooted in the ancient Aristotelian teachings of public address, allowing the use of one’s conversational voice to be delivered naturally while persuading any size audience.  His Research in the “Oralist Method” is now recognized world wide as a new teaching method reducing Speech Anxiety among students of all cultural backgrounds.

Professor Lockwood has written and spoken a multiple of presentations focusing on gender communication, critical thinking and leadership, activist in programs and organizations including Safe Space, I Am Equality, NOH8 Campaign, Get Out LB, I Stand Up and the Long Beach Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.

Lance  Lockwood is an alumnus of Chapman University earning his B.A. and Master’s Degree in Communication Studies and Organizational Leadership & Development.
