Meet Your Instructor:   

Daria Estrada-Smith PhD has been teaching at SAC for 5 years. She holds a doctorate from UCLA in Human Genetics and her field of research is obesity. She graduated from SAC an 1994 and transferred to CSUDH where she earned her BS in Biology. From there she entered the graduate program in Human Genetics at UCLA and finished her doctorate in 2006. She then completed post doctoral training at UNC Chapel Hill in 2010  as a SPIRE postdoctoral fellow. The SPIRE fellowship gave her additional training in teaching at historically minority universities for 1 year. 

Now she is back where she started and is glad to be home. 

Course Description:  

This course covers the principles of biology stressing the relationship of all organisms from anatomical, physiological, and ecological points of view. Includes cell machinery, genetics, reproduction, embryology, animal behavior, botany, ecology, evolution, and human physiology. This course is designed for non-biology majors.

Designed for non-biology majors. Credits are transferable to CSU/UC.
