Course Description:

This is an introductory course in entrepreneurship. You will learn to think and act like an entrepreneur, not an employee, manager, or executive. This course is about being creative and innovative. It is about conquering fear of the unknown. Learn that venture creation is a process. Explore the types of ventures one can create and explore venture stories. Discover an overview of the entrepreneurial process. Learn to see opportunities. Discover the resources necessary to turn a dream into a business.

Course Objectives / Student Learning Outcome (SLO):

Upon completion of this course each student will have changed their outlook about their lives, possibilities and goals. You will understand the practice and process of entrepreneurship. You will learn to seek out opportunities and find resources. You will learn to translate those opportunities into real ventures.

Guided Student Pathway:

This course is the first class to take on the journey to obtaining your Certificate and/or AA Degree in Entrepreneurship & Innovation. It’s encouraged that you work towards obtaining one or both for personal and professional development. Also, if you have not already taken Business 100, our Intro to Business class, you should take that class as soon as you can. Business 100 will give you important concepts and vocabulary that you will use in all business classes.

If you like Entrepreneur 100 and want to know more about entrepreneurship, the next step is to take our freelancer classes and earn your Freelancer Certificate. You can obtain the certificate in one semester by taking courses

ENTR-120 thru ENTR-125. They are each one unit classes which cover an entire semester.

Participation in discussions and in-class activities are important to understanding the material covered in the text and in the lectures. Each student will be expected to participate to the best of their abilities. Three (3) consecutive absences will result in a drop if permissible, or a maximum of a “D” Five (5) total absences will result in a drop if permissible, or a maximum of a “D”.  It is the STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY to drop the class. If there has been no drop, and the student has missed more than 5 classes, an “F” grade will be assigned.

Honesty Policy:

Students at Santa Ana College are expected to be honest and forthright in their academic endeavors. To falsify the results of one’s research, to steal the words or ideas of another, or to cheat on an examination, corrupts the essential process by which knowledge is advanced. Academic dishonesty is seen as an intentional act of fraud, in which a student seeks to claim credit for the work or efforts of another without authorization, or uses unauthorized materials or fabricated information in any academic exercise. We consider academic= dishonesty to include forgery of academic documents, intentionally impeding or damaging the academic work of others, assisting other students in act of dishonesty or coercing students into acts of dishonesty.
