Course Description:  The Spanish 101 and 102 courses are designed to enhance the student's ability to
understand native spoken and written Spanish, and to increase communication skills in
everyday situations. Students will learn reading comprehension and writing.
Students will begin to build a foundation in the four communicative skills;
listening, speaking, reading and writing. The goal of this course is communicative
(written competency and understanding of grammatical structures. This class uses
speaking, reading and writing activities to increase student proficiency in the dynamics
of communication in Spanish.
Classroom time is devoted that allow students to practice their skills of
understanding and interacting in Spanish. Puntos de Partida methodology requires a
total immersion experience in Spanish. The book has reading that are important part of
every chapter. There is a video that allow you understand all the cultural unit as well.

Requirements :
It is the student's obligation to attend all classes with the text book Puntos de Partida.We will work a lot with this book. We will do the exercises, practice reading and writing in class, and homework projects. You need to get the code to do the iLrnOnline Textbooks Activities. It is mandatory bring your book the first day of our class.

a) Attendance and Participation : Students have to be on time. I repeat, always bring their textbook and be active in listening and practicing Spanish . Being absent is not an excuse for being unprepared or not turning work in. Medical and court emergencies will be excused only when presented with an original written excuse as proof that you were sick during class hours.

b) Test and Homework : There are four tests in the semester. All exams must be taken in class. No make ups and no late homework will be accepted.
All HW will be assigned in class, and it is required to be turned in by the specific deadlines announced in class. Since this is an foreign language class, the completion of HW is specially relevant for students. If you are absent, you are responsible for finding out if there was any HW assigned while you were
gone. (Do not send me mails asking about the assignments, please.) In class assignments are activities carried out in the classroom to reinforce the material covered that day.

This course combines the use of textbooks, videos, short films and supplementary materials online . All the course content used, assigned and discussed in class could be used for the exams taken in class.

Our lectures will need your active participation because we will work listening and speaking skills in small groups of activities. We will write basic descriptive paragraphs with clear topic sentences and supporting detail. And we will analyze your own reading segments, expressing your personal opinions
and perspectives on specific readings.

c) Additional Notes :

• It is absolutely mandatory turn off your cellular phones during class.
• Plagiarism and cheating will be no tolerated. Read -please- the SAC Catalog regarding the District's definition, policy and consequences of being reported for academic dishonesty.

Be sure to read and prepare in advance all materials to be covered for each meeting. Textbook has vocabulary, grammar, reading and writing strategies, grammar exercises and cultural information. We will include in our chapters two of the most important
