MA056--Computer Applications for the Medical Office
Course Syllabus:
Instructor: Carol Seitz, BA, CMA-C (AAMA) Assistant Professor Medical Assisting Program, Division of Health Sciences and Nursing
Course Description: Introduction to practical applications for a medical office setting, including Practice Management with patient registration, scheduling, posting charges, generating reports and computerized billing, posting to accounts, insurance claim forms, as well as documenting clinical back office encounters in an Electronic Medical Record.

Course Learning Objectives:
- Demonstrate administrative and bookkeeping procedures using a medical Practice Management application.
- Demonstrate documentation utilizing Electronic Medical Records and medical charting simulation exercises.
- Discuss Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regarding privacy of electronic records.

- Accurately and professionally perform administrative and bookkeeping procedures in a Practice Management application
