Meet Your Instructor: Joseph Celis M.S. C.S.C.S.
Hello class. I'm exited to be your instructor next semester. Just a bit about me, I earned my Master's of Science in Kinesiology with a focus on Strength and Conditioning and Program Design at CSU Fullerton. I have had the opportunity to teach Sports Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, Health & Wellness, Muay Thai, Archery, Self Defense, and Yoga. I enjoy spending time with my family, Martial Arts, yoga, archery, backpacking, overlanding and traveling. I hope to motivate and educate you this coming semester as well as to be your guide to help you reach your educational and career goals.
Course Description:
This course is designed to introduce the student to the skills and strategies of Kick-boxing/Muay Thai. It will introduce concepts of fitness and cardio-respiratory conditioning achieved through participating in Kickboxing/Muay Thai drills. In addition, this course is designed to provide an overview of conditioning, and stretching exercises designed to improve muscle tone and aerobic endurance.

Course Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of the course, the student will be able to:
1) Perform kicks, punches, blocks, and stances used in Kickboxing/Muay Thai
2) Perform various types of footwork used in Kickboxing/Muay Thai.
3) Demonstrate effective combative strategies
Student Learning Objectives:
Students will become competent in the fundamental principles, techniques and terminology of Kickboxing/Muay Thai.
- Students will recall the relationship between Kickboxing/Muay Thai and the components of health related fitness.
- Students will recall the relationship between Kickboxing/Muay Thai and the components of health related fitness.
Classroom Procedures:
The class will include the following:
1. Warm-up exercises and dynamic stretching
2. Strengthening exercises (sit-ups, push-ups, etc.)
3. Cardio-respiratory exercises including running and jump rope etc.
4. Kicking, punching and blocking
5. Stance-work, ducking, weaving, bobbing, feinting, parrying, and evading
