Meet Your Instructor: Becky Hester
Becky Hester has taught for Santa Ana College off and on as an adjunct faculty member since 2012. Becky received a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and Masters of Science from California State University, Fullerton in 1996 and 1999 respectively. In addition, Becky received an Associate of Arts in Business Administration from Santa Ana college in 1993. Since completing her Bachelors degree, Becky has enjoyed a successful career as a senior software engineer for the past 20+ years. When not working, Becky pursues many activities which include: dancing, reading, knitting, photography and spending time with her family and 2 cats.
Course Description:
This course provides an introduction to computer concepts and management information systems. In addition, this source provides an introduction to the Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access applications as they relate to solving business problems.

Software Requirements
We will be using Microsoft Office 2016 for all application projects in this course. We will be using Excel, and Access. If you have an earlier version of Microsoft Office, you should be able to complete all projects. You have the following options if you do not have Microsoft Office:
- Office 365: SAC students have access to Office 365 for FREE! This cloud version of Office is always at the latest MS Office version. To access Office 365, follow the instructions here.
- Computer Lab and Library at the college have Office 2016 for you to use (A-106 and the Nealley Library).
- Purchase Microsoft Office 2016. If you prefer to purchase Microsoft Office, you can purchase it at a student price.

You can purchase software at a student rate from either of the sites above as a student of one of the California Community Colleges. You will need a credit card to purchase the software online. Make sure that whatever version of MS Office you purchase contains Excel and Access as those will be the applications we will be using in this course.
If you choose the Office 365 option above, you will have to download and install Office 2016 to your local computer to use Microsoft Access.
If you are a Mac user, you will have to gain access to a computer running the Windows operating system to complete the Microsoft Access assignments. If you don't have access to a Windows computer at home, you can use the computers in the Academic Computing Center (A-106) or the Nealley Library on the Santa Ana College Campus.
