Course Description: This course focuses on understanding and applying the fundamental principals of public speaking. The speech skills include identifying the purpose, selecting the topic, conducting research, organizing content and outlining the speech (Aristotelian Outline). Students will learn to present information clearly, reasonably, and persuasively by giving individual speeches.
Textbook Information: Lumen's OER Public Speaking located in your Canvas course shell $5.00 fee included during registration.
Course Learning Objectives:
1. Students will plan, prepare and deliver speeches for various forms of public oratory.
2. Students will identify and use key organizational patterns for selected methods of delivery.
3. Students will write formal outlines, an audience analysis, and bibliography appropriate for various forms of public oratory.
4. Students will construct logical arguments to support claim or proposition.
