Additional Course Information:

• Attendance Procedures: School Policies
 A student may be dropped by the instructor because of enrollment demand when not appearing at the first class meeting.
 I will also drop students who fail to attend the second class meeting if there is still an enrollment demand.
 A student may be dropped for excessive absences when the total hours of absences exceed 10% of the total scheduled hours of the class. This class meets for a total of 48 hours and you are in jeopardy of being dropped after 4.8(5) hours of absence.
 There are no excused absences. All absences represent missed instruction and are part of the 10% limit.
 The door may be locked at the beginning of class to allow the instructor to complete specific uninterrupted activities such as collecting homework, giving quizzes, calling role, etc. The door will be unlocked when those activities are completed and late students will be admitted.
 Role is taken only once each class meeting. If a student is tardy it is their responsibility to advise the instructor that same day. Otherwise the student will be considered absent.
• Exam dates are indicated on the calendar. Make-up tests will be given only if arrangements are made prior to the test date.
• Students are expected to have a portable storage device (flash/thumb drive) by the beginning of the second day of class. Assignments and projects missed as a result of not being prepared will not be allowed to be made up.
• Projects are given on a weekly basis. Projects are due as indicated on the homework page. Assignments turned in after the due date will be late and will be worth fewer points. Assignments received after the late date will be given 1 point as an indication that the work was eventually completed.
• It is the students’ responsibility to make sure that his or her homework is turned in properly. The procedure is outlined in the document “Uploading Your Homework” provided by your instructor. Make sure that you understand and are using the procedure correctly. If you are planning to turn your homework in from home make sure that you are able to do so. Work not turned in properly may result in that homework being late.
• You should always turn in all your work even if you are going to get only one point. The fact that you have completed all your work demonstrates that you are making an effort and could be a determining factor when calculating your final grade. Maximum score on each homework assignment is 9 points. If you turn in your homework late the maximum score is 7 points. If you turn in your homework after the late date, I will accept it and give you 1 point.
• Projects complete as “class assignments” or “directed activities” will be graded that same day. If you are absent you may still do the assignment but the maximum score is 1, if you do it correctly.
• The calendar indicates which chapters will be covered each week and I expect that you have read the indicated chapters as part of your class preparation.
• Academic Integrity: All students are expected to complete all tests, class activities, quizzes and projects on an individual basis. All acts of plagiarism, cheating or any other form of dishonesty will result in disciplinary
• A grade report will be published on a regular basis and it is the students’ responsibility to verify that the homework and test scores are correctly entered. If you find a discrepancy you must submit a written request form indicating the discrepancy. These corrections should be completed within 1 week of the date the errors were first published.
• Communication with your instructor is very important. If you are going to be absent for an extended period of time or you are going to miss an exam, contact the instructor.
• Students are expected to demonstrate proper college classroom deportment at all times. All beepers, cell phones or any other electronic devices are to be turned off during class time. Failure to demonstrate proper deportment will result in your being asked to leave the room for the remainder of the class. Repeated problems will result in your being dropped from the class. Repeated tardiness is unacceptable, be on time.
• Please do not bring any food or drinks into the class rooms.
• Students with verifiable disabilities who want to request academic accommodations are responsible for notifying their instructor and Disabled Students Programs and Service (DSPS) by phone (714) 564-6260 or (714) 564-6384 (TDD for students that are deaf)
