Math N48 Syllabus
Course Description:
Prerequisite: Math N05 or pass the qualifying exam. This course offers an introduction to basis algebra concepts, math vocabulary, and algebraic operations. This course is intended to be a bridge from basic arithmetic to elementary algebra.
Textbook Information:
Beginning Algebra, 7th Edition by Martin-Gay, Pearson Education.
Additional Course Information:
We will be using MyMathLab as online homework which will require student access code. You can purchase the textbook bundle (includes textbook, student access code, and study skill booklet) at the bookstore. You also need to either purchase the lecture note package at the bookstore or print it out and bring it to every class meeting.

Student Learning Objectives:
Students will be able to perform arithmetic operations with rational numbers; solve and check linear equations; translate English sentences to algebraic equations and solve basic word problems; find slopes and graph equations of lines; perform operations on polynomials; and factor polynomials.
