Course Description:  This course introduces the basic principles and history related to the national firefighter life safety initiatives, focusing on the need for cultural and behavior change throughout the emergency services.

Student Learning Objectives: 

At the conclusion of this course, students will understand:
1. The organization and function of Personal Fire Safety.
2. Recognize safety hazards.
3. Engineer solutions to mitigate safety hazards.
4. Understand the Management and Development of a Safety Program.
5. Develop and Manage a Safety Program Evaluation.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Identify Safety Hazards while at the Fire Station, responding to emergencies and at the emergency scene.
2. Identify hazards associated with fire, smoke, hazardous materials and bodily fluids.
3. Explain the organization and function of personal fire safety.
4. Explain the solutions used to mitigate safety hazards.
5. Prepare and understand the development of a Safety Program and the tools used to manage and evaluate the Safety Program.
