Meet Your Instructor:
Thomas R. Hoekstra, MBA
I have been an Adjunct Professor of Accounting and Finance for over 30 years and have served on Accounting Advisory Committees for other colleges. Prior to joining Santa Ana College, I have taught at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, CA., Coastline Community College in Garden Grove for their Distance Learning Center, Keller Graduate School, Irvine, CA., Fullerton College, Fullerton, CA. and Brandman University, CA.
I received my Bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fullerton; my M.B.A. from California Polytechnic University, Pomona and hold a California Community College Instructor Credential in Accounting; Business and Industrial Management.
In addition to my academic experience, I have been a CFO for both public and private corporations in the $100M to $350M revenue range and managed consolidated revenues in excess of $800 million. Responsibilities have included financial projections, business plan analysis, cash management, risk management, M & A, and SEC reporting.
Course Description: Financial accounting for the business administration transfer student. The course includes study of the accounting cycle, asset and liability accounting, corporations, financial statements and principles.
