Playwrights create characters based on human beings – on people from every conceivable socio-economic, ethnic, and gender category. The playwright places these characters in highly dramatic and often dysfunctional relationships and scenarios. Consequently, theatre students will sometimes be faced with controversial subject matter, characters, situations, and language. Please maintain an open mind when discussing and viewing materials. The instructor, prior to presentation, must approve everything presented. Alternative assignments are strictly at the discretion of the instructor.

“I’m passionate about authentic, gritty and abrasive theatre and cinema.”
“I love acting and actors. Actors are present. They always work with what is directly in front of them and aren’t afraid to get dirty.”
“I love plays and films that have something to say about the emotional realities of being human.”
“I have been on a lifelong search for salvation and in the theatre and behind or in front of the camera, I always seem to find it in many surprising forms.”
