A bit about me...
Prior to my academic career, I was enlisted as a Dental Tech in the U.S. Air Force. While a service member, I was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Phoenix, Arizona.
During my first two years of undergraduate work, Orange Coast College was my home. I'm also a product of the California Community College system! My B.A. was earned at UCLA, where I double-majored in Socio-Cultural Anthropology and Human Geography. After undergraduate work, I began my M.A. at the University of West Florida, but then transferred and completed my degree in Cultural Anthropology at California State University, Long Beach.
As a cultural anthropologist by training, my fieldwork has been conducted with many populations, but primarily with the Chumash Indians and the South Asian Indian population here in Southern California. Conceptually, my areas of interest are gender, marriage, religion, migration, globalization, colonization, environment, and artistic expression.
