Veterans
Overview
Veterans enter college communities with very different backgrounds than traditional students; often arriving with leadership, travel, and job experiences that set them apart from their peers. The physical and emotional demands of active duty, whether in training, stateside posting or deployment, result in unique health needs when veterans re-enter civilian life. Recognizing that our veteran community often requires specialized resources we hope that this list of resources can help veteran students succeed personally and academically. Every California Community College has designated one or more people to specifically help students who are veterans. Your education counseling department will be able to direct you to that specific help. Also, many colleges have or are opening Veteran Center’s on campus. At some colleges, like Irvine Valley College, this is a one stop shop for all veteran’s needs. Find out if your campus has one.
