Hunger
Overview
Are you in need of some extra money for food? Are you in need of some food to hold you over until your next paycheck? There are resources available for students like you! You don’t have to be hungry! You have other things to focus on like your studies and you will function better with a full stomach. You are not alone, this is a common need. Here are some resources for you.
Your campus may have an on-campus food pantry with free food for students, please check with your campus Student Health Services, Student Center, Financial Aid, EOPS (Extended Opportunity Programs and Services), FYSI (Foster Youth Success Initiative), or Homeless Youth Liaison to find the closest food pantry, either on campus or in your community.
Additionally, you may be eligible for CalFresh, which is a federally-funded program that gives you free money for food every month. You do not need to pay this money back. You can use it to buy food at the grocery store and most farmer’s markets. To find out if you are eligible for CalFresh benefits, please get in touch with someone in one of the following programs or departments: Financial Aid, EOPS, DSPS, Puente, MESA, FYSI, Guardian Scholars, CAFYES/Next Up or someone in the food pantry on your campus.
